good to know

⟡ what to bring

A blanket, a book, and something to sip. We'll lay out the food. Comfortable shoes — we'll be on the grass the whole time.

⟡ if the weather turns

If it's wet we'll relocate to the glasshouse at the garden's edge. It's small but dry, and the orchids are blooming. We'll message on the morning.

In Bloom

Ox-eye daisies

The north field's whole eastern edge has turned white with them. Pick one for your blanket if you like — there are more daisies than we could ever count.

Quaking grass

Shake a stem near your ear: the little seed heads tremble like tiny rattles. The meadow hums with it all afternoon.

Ragged robin

The pink-fringed flowers by the pond are the last of the season. The bees know it too — mind where you spread the blanket.

Last Summer

sixty seconds from last summer's blanket.

Same meadow, one summer earlier. This year the camera is yours — film the afternoon and we'll press the sequel.
